Status messages have evolved quite a bit. The early IM platforms, most popularly AIM, had away messages, where you could leave a note when you were away from your computer. That evolved into status messages, where you can set a message even when at your computer. Facebook and Twitter have taken that to a new level, as they represent perpetual and constantly updated status messages. BBCool links us to the BlackBerry equivalent: WhatsApp. Once you install this application, you can share your status with other users. This is not only immediately useful, but has further-reaching implications.

WhatsApp is most functional when users set their actual status, rather than leaving a clever message. It lets others — who also have installed the application — know what you’re up to at the moment. Wondering if it’s a good time to call? Check WhatsApp. If it’s not you can always send a text or email.

As BBCool notes, this concept would be best integrated with the Address Book app, so that you can quickly scroll to a friend and see if they are free or not. There are all sorts of ways this could develop, too, including notifications that the part is already on the phone, that they’ve set their phone to silent, and many others.

Of course, it’s of little use if you don’t have friends who have also installed the app. So let ‘em all know. It’s free, after all. You can hit http://www.whatsapp.com/bb/ from your BlackBerry browser for an OTA download, or http://www.whatsapp.com/bb/DesktopManager.zip for the desktop download.

Oh yeah! Another UPS package has just been dropped off at my desk and I am pumped to tear it open and see what is inside. Between you and me, I already know what it is but it still feels like it’s my birthday or some other special give Cooper a gift day.

A couple weeks ago I reviewed an awesome set of Bluetooth speakers from BlueAnt called the M1. I was skeptical about the quality and performance of these kinds of accessories because lets face it – for less than $200 what kind of quality can you really expect. As it turns out, BlueAnt managed to create a nice little speaker setup that has proven to be quite handy around my house, work and casual outdoor gatherings.

Today I get to review a second set of speakers for the BlackBerry. This time I will be taking a look at the Motorola MOTOROKR EQ5 Ultra Portable Wireless Speaker set. Coming in at a $99.95 price point, the EQ5 speakers are about $60 cheaper than the M1s. It will be interesting to see how they stack up against the BlueAnt offering.

Introducing the Motorola MOTOROKR EQ5 Ultra Portable Wireless Speakers

Man these things are tiny. When I chose them to review I had envisioned a set of speakers roughly the same size as the BlueAnt M1s. When I opened my UPS box I was surprised to see that the Motorola EQ5s are approximately the same size as my Bold. Where the M1s are definitely portable, the EQ5s are slip in your pocket portable, toss in your purse portable.

The Motorola MOTOROKR EQ5 Ultra Portable Wireless Speakers are manufactured in a single unit that features two speakers located to the left and right of a control panel. The control panel features the standard buttons you would expect to find on a set of portable speakers.

The play/pause, next/previous and volume controls are located on the front of the unit with an on/off switch on the bottom edge. You will also find a handy fold out stand arm that allows the speakers to be propped up on your desk or dashboard when in use.

There is a call button on the top edge of the EQ5s, along with a microphone and an audio in port for times when Bluetooth is not accessible. One of the great things about this setup is that you can still take calls on your BlackBerry while paired with the speakers. The Motorola EQ5 will actually stand in as a speaker phone attachment with a push of the call button.

There was no case shipped with the EQ5 speakers but the overall design of the unit seems sturdy enough and all the buttons and ports are either covered or flush with the surface . This should eliminate most of the troubles that could arise when the EQ5 speakers are jostled around in a bag or pocket.

So what are the specs?

The Motorola MOTOROKR EQ5 Ultra Portable Wireless Speaker weighs in at 3.5 ounces and measures 4.6 x 2.6 x 0.6. The unit uses a micro USB charging port to get power and can be run while plugged in or wirelessly off the stored charge.

The actual speakers are 1 watt per channel and deliver some great sound compared to the standard speakers on your phone. Not to say that the EQ5 speakers will blow you out of your chair, but they are great for using in a small room or in your cubicle at work. The EQ5s feature a technology called SRS WOW HD audio enhancement which provides improved bass and definition control for your music.

The Motorola MOTOROKR EQ5 Ultra Portable Wireless Speaker set runs on the Bluetooth A2DP profile which makes it accessible to more than 200 compatible devices from more than 15 different brands including your prized BlackBerry. In the event that you can not use the Bluetooth profile on your BlackBerry you can use a supplied cable to connect your phone directly to the EQ5, taking advantage of the standard 3.5mm jack.

The EQ5 features a rechargable Lithium Ion battery that is rated for 500 charges over it’s life with an average charge resulting in 8 hours of steady play.

My impressions of the Motorola MOTOROKR EQ5 Ultra Portable Wireless Speakers

I would not classify these speakers as a must have for BlackBerry owners. There is nothing about them that really stands out and shouts “essential”. That being said, I do find them handy as a set of on the go speakers that can be thrown in a bag or kept in the car for hands free calling.

The sound quality of the EQ5 speakers was very nice and I only noticed real distortion when I pumped them up to full volume. It is important to note that when the speakers are connected directly using the 3.5mm jack that the sound quality goes way up, I mean signifigantly better.

Pairing the speakers with my Bold was painless. The process is simple and only requires the press of a couple buttons.

Overall, I would say that the Motorola MOTOROKR EQ5 Ultra Portable Wireless Speaker set is a good buy for someone who just needs a little more noise, or someone who needs a hands free speaker phone solution. If you want the boom you need to go with the BlueAnt M1s.

Where can I get them?

The Motorola MOTOROKR EQ5 Ultra Portable Wireless Speaker set can be purchased for $99.95 (reduced from $119.95) from the BBGeeks Store.

By default, your BlackBerry stores your missed calls in your Messages application. So when you see that you have a missed call it not only shows on your call log, but in your messages as well. I’m not exactly sure why they did this — there’s a prompt when you have a missed call, and again it shows on your call log. I guess some people enjoy it. Thankfully, the BlackBerry is customizable, so you can continue to see missed calls in your messages if you want, but if you don’t you can turn it off. Also, if you like seeing your missed calls in your messages, you can also opt to have all calls display in that area.

To get started, go into your call logs and hit the Menu button. Then scroll down to Options. Second in the list will be Call Logging. That’s the one you want.

As the heading suggests, this is where you choose which of your calls shows up in your messages list. Missed Calls is up top and default. You can choose to have All Calls route to your message list, or if you want to keep your messages free and clear you can select None.

Easy enough, right? So now you can see as many or as few call logs in your message list as you want. Simple, but effective.

One thing I’ve been using my BlackBerry for more and more is taking notes. I used to carry around a small pad and paper, but I’d either forget to bring it with me, or else lose it somewhere along the way. With the BlackBerry, it’s with me all the time. Plus, I’m not going to lose the thing — as easily as a pad and paper, at least. While I do use the MemoPad application frequently for chronicling such things as my to read list, I also leave myself a number of voice notes. While I listen to them right on my BlackBerry, I can understand why people would want to transfer those notes to their computers as MP3 files. That’s what we’re going over today.

Record your voice note

Obviously, the first step is to actually record your voice note. To do that, locate your Voice Notes Recorder application and open it. It’s a pretty simple interface which allows you to hit the record button to start the process. Once you’re done hit the pause button. There you’ll see a list of functions, much like the Camera application. The options to the right are save, send, and delete. You’re going to want the save one, which looks like a folder. Make sure to save it to your memory card. That’s the best an easiest way to extract it from the device.

Connect to computer

Next up is connecting your BlackBerry to your computer, either Mac or PC, via a USB cable. That should bring up a prompt on your BlackBerry asking if you want to enter mass storage mode. Select Yes. Now your computer should display a removable drive which you can explore. Find the directory you saved the voice note under, and drag the file to your desktop. It should be in .AMR format, which is what makes the conversion a pain in the first place.

After this you can disconnect your BlackBerry. Just make sure to eject it before you pull the cord.

Convert and play

The .AMR file you dragged to your desktop will play on a few different audio programs, like QuickTime for the Mac and RealPlayer for Mac or PC. These are relatively easy to use — QuickTime comes with Macs, and RealPlayer can be found here. If all you want to do is listen to the voice note, you can end here. If you want to convert the files to .MP3, read on.

You’ll need to convert the file. If you have QuickTime Pro on your Mac, rather than the standard QuickTime, you can save the file as a .mp4, and then convert to .mp3 by opening the file in iTunes and creating an MP3 version. If you don’t have QuickTime Pro for the Mac, you’ll need software to perform the conversion. I stand by Audacity, which serves many other audio purposes as well.

There are many options for a PC conversion, most of which are free. You can check out Format Factory, which does the job just fine. Googling “.amr to .mp3″ will bring about many more options, in case you feel like checking for something else. In any case, that should leave you with an MP3 of your voice note.

You know what’s annoying? Replying to an email and not being able to edit any of the quoted text. Ditto forwarding. Everything below that Original Message line is off limits, and it can be a pain. For instance, what if I want to forward someone an email, but want some information changed, edited, or deleted? I do that all the time on my computer, so why not my BlackBerry. As you might have guessed, there’s an app that can take care of the issue. Via Adam Zeis at CrackBerry we learn of Forward, Reply and Edit, an application which, yes, lets you edit forward and reply text. It sounds like an application which everyone should have on their BlackBerrys.

The integration is rather brilliant. In the desired message you click the trackball as normal, but instead of Reply or Forward, you click the Reply & Edit or the Reply & Forward option, which appears at the top of the menu. From there you can make the necessary edits, including spell checking, editing out sensitive information, or editing out whole strings of replies (useful in a blind copy).

As Adam notes, there’s no good reason why this isn’t a standard feature. It’s so basic, yet so notably absent from the BlackBerry software. Hopefully this application can spread, catching RIM’s attention so it can become part of a future upgrade.

The application is free, which is a plus. BBerryApp.com wants to spread its name, though, so there’s a catch: you have to send a notification of the application to someone in your Address Book. That can be spammy for sure, but it’s such a basic and useful app that your friend might thank you. You can download it OTA here.

Feeling overloaded with BlackBerry news and rumors? We know the feeling. We hear new things almost every day, and it can be tough to keep up with it all. that’s why we’re bringing you BlackBerry News from the Wire every Thursday.

We’ll catch you up on everything ‘Berry that happened over the course of the week. Not only that, but we’ll rank ‘em by importance, so you can more easily skim the items and read the ones of most significance. If you only have time to read one article, for instance, you might want to head down to our 5-star section. It’s All the BlackBerry News Fit to Geek.

BlackBerry Curve again the top-selling smartphone
In the first quarter of 2009, the BlackBerry Curve was the best-selling smartphone in America. It was a testament to the Curve’s versatility. Enterprise and consumer users alike found plenty to enjoy with the relatively small Berry. The results are in for the second quarter, and again the Curve is on top, beating out the iPhone 3GS, which was released at the end of the quarter. In fact, four of the top six spots went to the BlackBerry — the Pearl at No. 3, the Bold at 5, and Storm at 6 — while the iPhone took slots 2 and 4 (for the regular 3G). That’s nothing but good news for RIM, which could see the Tour enter the ranks starting next quarter. Think it will rate higher than the Bold? Tough to outdo the Curve and Pearl, since those cover various models over all carriers.

New patent reveals RIM playing with touch screens
We haven’t seen a RIM patent in a while, but that changed this week. Unwired View tracked down a new application, this one for a touch screen. And not just any touch screen, but one with hybrid capacitive/resistive capabilities. The idea is to take the best of both types to create an even better touch screen, with the sleekness of an iPhone which has the ability to handle stylus inputs. It’s just a patent application, so we have little to go on. Still, it sounds like a mighty cool idea.

An early look at Desktop Manager for Mac
One of the most exciting bits of BlackBerry news this year is that RIM will release Desktop Manager for Mac. Us Mac users have been left behind with BlackBerry, forced to use inferior desktop managers like PocketMac. It’s not the worst program in the world, but it just can’t do all the same things Desktop Manager can. That should change in September, but for now there’s a quick preview of Desktop Manager for Mac. It has the basic DM properties, like backing up and restoring contacts and programs, adding and removing third part apps, and the ability to upgrade or downgrade an OS. Then there’s the ability to sync with iCal, iTunes, and Entourage, even across multiple machines. I can’t wait for the day in September when I visit the RIM site and click “download.”

Possible release dates for the Storm 2
We’re going to run into a lot of projected release dates over the next few months, mainly for the BlackBerry Onyx and the BlackBerry Storm 2. On the Storm 2 front, The BlackBerry Zone hears that it will hit the UK on Vodafone in October, while Verizon will have it for US customers around Black Friday. While there’s no known source behind the information, it makes sense. For all we know it could be an educated guess, because it goes along with what we’ve been hearing for a while, and it logically fits. I wonder if RIM and Verizon will have a similar marketing push this year.

What is the BlackBerry 9990?
It seems a bit early for RIM to be introducing a device with the model number 9990, but that’s what someone found in an image file. Kevin did some research, and found that the model number does exist, but doesn’t necessarily mean a new device. In fact, it kind of looks like 9990 refers to the Storm 2. But I thought that was the 9550. It also says device software 5.7, so it could be a farce. Easily. Or it could be the Magnum, I suppose.

Could a new device feature a front-facing camera?
One potential feature of the Bold which got many excited was a front-facing camera. These make for perfect video conferencing, an act many BlackBerry users participate in. It could be coming early next year, though the information is filtered through someone who doesn’t much care. Honestly, I don’t either, but I know other people do. Perhaps this would work better as Verizon deploys its LTE network throughout 2010? That’s an idea…

Look for the Curve 8530 on Sprint, Verizon in November
We already heard that Verizon would be carrying the BlackBerry Curve 8530, the Gemini for CDMA, on November 1. It looks like Sprint will follow suit. Both carriers are pushing the old Curves out the door it seems, ready to welcome this new one. Though with the Storm 2 dropping around the same time, Verizon might not get much time to hype the 8520.

RIM upgrades App World to 1.1. RIM has added some new search filters, including the ability to sort for free apps. Sounds like a good upgrade for App World.

A status message for your BlackBerry. If everyone integrated WhatsApp into their Address Books, life might be a bit easier. It’s a program which sets you a status message, so people know if you’re free to take a call.

Reviewing the MOTOROKR EQ5 wireless speakers. These seems like a good deal for those who listen to a lot of music on their BlackBerry.

Add or remove call logs from your messages list. Notice how missed calls pop up in your message list by default? You can change that.

Edit forward and reply emails. Sometimes you need to edit some stuff out of emails you forward and reply to. This app lets you do that.

RIM has given its fans plenty to be excited about in 2009. They kicked it off with the BlackBerry Curve 8900, and marched through to the Tour, their most powerful CDMA device to date. In the near future we can look forward to the Onyx and the Storm 2, plus a slippery device known now as the Magnum. With all of these high-end devices taking up our attention, it’s easy to lose sight of a lesser offering. This is the case with the BlackBerry Curve 8520, better known by its production name, Gemini. The low-end device hit T-Mobile and Wal-Mart shelves this week amid, well, not much fanfare. Still, there’s a lot to like about the new device.

One thing you will just LOVE about the new Curve 8520 is that you can get it FREE for a limited time only. Continue reading to learn a little more about the brand new Gemini and to find out how you can get yours (and many other models) for free.

The first and most noticeable difference with the Gemini is the change from a trackball to a trackpad. Trackballs can be a pain in the ass: you have to clean them and sometimes replace them. The trackpad is digital, so there’s no mechanism which can break down. Also, because there is no rolling device, it’s harder for dirt to get behind it. It might take some getting used to, but from all anecdotes the trackpad is an excellent addition to the BlackBerry interface.

The Curve 8520 also brings a greater level of memory, 256MB on board vs. 64 on the first edition Curves. This might not mean a lot for some, but for application hounds it means more free memory for apps, plus the ability to retain more free memory, which will help the device run faster.

You can check out the Curve with this nifty video walk-through, courtesy of the good folks at Phone Scoop:

Yeah Yeah I Know The 8520 Rocks But How Do You Get The FREE Curves???

Now that you are up to speed on what awaits you when you pick up your new Curve 8520 (Gemini), here is how you can get one for free. Yes I said FREE!

From now until Monday August 10th, 2009 you can get free BlackBerry Curves from your favorite providers including: Sprint, AT&T, Verizon and T-Mobile. The free curves are being made available to new customers as well as those looking to upgrade their devices. If this sounds like you, then there is no reason not to pop on over to the sale page for your desired provider and take advantage of their timely generosity.

Below is a list of all the models of Curve being offered in this promotion. They are separated by provider. Please note that there is one link for new customers and one link for upgrades for each device listed.

ATTENTION: Last time we ran a similar promotion there were a few people who were disappointed to find that they were not eligible for the promotion for one reason or another. To avoid frustration, PLEASE READ ANY AND ALL INSTRUCTIONS presented to you at the time of the order. If you are looking to get a free Curve for a third or fourth line on an existing plan you will most likely be ineligible.

Not only did the Curve top the smartphone charts for the second straight quarter, but RIM picked up four of the top six spots. This included the Pearl at 3, the Bold at 5, and the Storm at 6. The other two? The Apple iPhone, the 3GS at 2 and the regular 3G at 4. No wonder Apple and RIM take home the majority of the profits in the industry.

As for the touch screen, it’s a hybrid capacitive/resistive model, so the idea is to combine the best of both worlds. It could work and RIM could have one nifty bit of hardware on its hands. Or it might not work at all. Of course, I ignore that point in the podcast and just ramble on about RIM’s hardware proficiency and their software shortcomings. I think software is easier to improve than hardware, so hopefully that’s a plus for RIM in the future.

Well, that is, unless it’s the BlackBerry Store. Go to a T-Mobile retail outlet and you’ll have the Curve 8900, Curve 8520, and then some older Pearls and Curves. Go to AT&T and you’ll see the Bold, Curve 8900, and some other models. Verizon’s the only place for the Tour, so you can’t compare it side by side with a Bold. That’s why I’m also linking to this video. It’s a good look at the various BlackBerry models out there right now, and it can be a good starting point when making a decision about your next BlackBerry purchase.

When it comes to skins for the BlackBerry, one could be talking about a number of things. One might reference a BlackBerry skin when they are talking about the various silicone gel cases that are available to protect your Storm from bumps and bruises.
Vinyl BlackBerry Skins for the Storm
The Mora design from DecalGirl is a classy skin that brings a new level of sophistication to your BlackBerry Storm. Predominantly black and white, with a few touches of color in just the right places. The Mora skin is sort of like tearing out a page from your favorite sketch book and wrapping it around your Storm.

Simple and stylish, the Mora BlackBerry skin is a great choice when it comes to decorating your Storm.
The Mora BlackBerry Skin can be purchased from DecalGirl for $7.99

With a vibrant dose of textured yellows and intense purple swirls and flourishes, the Chaotic Land skin from DecalGirl is sure to please. Your Storm is going to be the talk of the town when you wrap this stylish vinyl skin around it.

The custom wallpaper that ships with this design really makes the screen pop while keeping it perfectly blended with the rest of the Storms new detailing.

The Chaotic Land BlackBerry Skin can be purchased from DecalGirl for $7.99

The designers of the Boombox II skin for the BlackBerry Storm have decided to bring us a little touch of retro. Once you wrap the Boombox II skin around your device it is magically transformed into and old school Boombox!

The overall color scheme is gray, just like the old radios that kids used to prop up on the curb when practicing their killer break dancing moves. If you were an 80’s baby you know these Boomboxes like the back of your hand. If you have no idea what I am talking about because you were not around for the original mixtape craze, you need to do some homework and a great place to start is by checking out this BlackBerry Storm skin.

The Boombox II skin for the BlackBerry Storm can be purchased from Gelaskins for $14.95

The Loose Leaf BlackBerry skin is a nice departure from both the artistic rendering type skins and the strictly utilitarian skins available in most shops on the web. This skin breathes life into your BlackBerry by wrapping it up tight in a vibrant green leaf pattern. The intricate veins of the leaf texture and subtle shifts in tonality make this BlackBerry skin a pleasure to look at.

If you are tired of animal prints, why not spruce up your device with a little touch of green?

The Loose Leaf skin for the BlackBerry Storm can be purchased from Gelaskins for $14.95

Vinyl BlackBerry Skins for the Bold
This stylish design from DecalGirl called Vera is sure to brighten up anyone’s day once they lay eyes on it. With multi-layered textures of Black, pink, coral and yellows, this is one of the more vibrant BlackBerry skins available.

While the gentlemen in the crowd may opt for a more masculine color scheme, there is no doubt that this skin will find it’s way onto many Bold devices in the near future.

The Vera BlackBerry Skin can be purchased from DecalGirl for $7.99

This Azure BlackBerry skin is super slick. Designed to give you the impression that your BlackBerry is now encrusted with beautiful blue, green and turquoise stones, the white background is the perfect compliment.

This stylish skin is able to transform your BlackBerry Bold from refined executive class to attention grabbing in a split second. With the Azure BlackBerry skin your Berry is sure to turn some heads.

The Azure BlackBerry Skin can be purchased from DecalGirl for $7.99

The Cohabitations skin for the BlackBerry Bold from Gelaskins is one of the slickest designs I have seen available for purchase. Using artwork from a gentleman named Philip Straub, this vinyl skin wraps the Bold in an eerie cityscape made of muted shades and strong brushwork.

This skin brings a new level of darkness to the device chosen by executives world wide.

The Cohabitations skin for the BlackBerry Bold can be purchased from Gelaskins for $14.95

Here is a gem of a BlackBerry skin if I do say so myself. I have been a fan of Alex Pardee and his astounding artwork since the first piece I laid eyes upon. Lucky BlackBerry Bold owners who want to dress up their device with a design that is extremely unique yet stylish and engaging can have all that and more with the Backpack skin from Gelaskins.

The image used on this skin is taken from one of Alex’s better known paintings called “The Backpack”. The design features a slightly ugly monster/spirit hugging a cute pink monster/spirit on a white background.

If you really want your bold to stand out from the crowd, this is the skin to get.

The Backpack can be purchased from Gelaskins for $14.95

Vinyl BlackBerry Skins for the Curve
The Yellow Egg skin from DecalGirl is just too cool. It is bright and has that color of yellow that just perks you right up.

No longer are you stuck with a Curve that is plain black and gray. All it takes is a couple minutes to apply the vinyl skin and your BlackBerry will spring to life!

The Yellow Egg BlackBerry Skin can be purchased from DecalGirl for $7.99

Do you like the color blue? Do you long to be beside an ocean when you are stuck in a board room or cubicle? If so then the Feeling Blue skin is just the ticket.

Wrapping your BlackBerry in an almost Van Gogh like impressionist painting of a wave and sun reflection on the water, this skin is high class all the way.

The Feeling Blue BlackBerry Skin can be purchased from DecalGirl for $7.99

Vinyl BlackBerry Skins for the Curve 8900
Now here is a theme that has it all. Well, not all, but enough to make you stop and take notice. The color scheme of light beige , pinks and greens makes the Flower Burst skin relaxing yet stylish at the same time.

If you are looking for a BlackBerry skin for your Curve that will separate you from the crowd, the Flower Burst skin is worth taking a look at.

The Flower Burst BlackBerry Skin can be purchased from DecalGirl for $7.99

Here we go, a BlackBerry skin with a raw flavor for all of you who want to add a little edge to your device. Well designed using a series of black and white flourishes and accented with a vivid red heart bezel, the My Heart skin will find a home with the younger crowd for sure.

The My Heart BlackBerry Skin can be purchased from DecalGirl for $7.99

We touched on it earlier with the Boombox II skin for the Storm and we are bringing it back full steam with the 1981 skin for the BlackBerry Curve 8900. Breakdancing !

The 1981 skin from Gelaskins is a classic portrait of an old school dance party in the streets courtesy of an artist named BUA. This skin drips with nostalgia and features stylized portraits of characters at a street party. The colors are muted yet bright at the same time and will really make your BlackBerry do the Body Rock!

The 1981 BlackBerry skin can be purchased from Gelaskins for $14.95

The enamored Whale skin for the Curve 8900 is based off an illustration by an artist named Alberto Cerriteno. The illustration is of a cute cartoony whale that just wants the world to know it loves them.

Using a faux wood grain background and some interesting transparency effects, Alberto has created a very playful image that is well suited to being wrapped around a BlackBerry.

The Enamored Whale BlackBerry skin can be purchased from Gelaskins for $14.95

Vinyl BlackBerry Skins for the Pearl
Looking for a way to dress up your BlackBerry Pearl but you are not feeling any of the standard options? Check out this awesome skin called The Soul from DecalGirl.

Designed in a very art deco style with lots of flowing lines and exotic imagery, this blackberry skin is simply delightful. Hands down, one of the best looking Pearl skins available on the market.

The Soul BlackBerry Skin can be purchased from DecalGirl for $7.99

Here is another great looking skin for the BlackBerry Pearl. Laurie’s Garden is a sweet looking design that incorporates a solid black background with layers upon layers of retro styled flowers to add significant punch. This BlackBerry pearl skin will coordinate with many outfits I am sure.

The Laurie’s Garden BlackBerry Skin can be purchased from DecalGirl for $7.99
Mostly black and white with the slightest hint of color in the kabuki characters hand make The Wave skin an understated upgrade for any Pearl Flip owner.

The movement in the flowing lines of the Wave skin are quite eye catching and you will be sure to turn a few heads when you pull it out of your pocket/purse.

The Wave BlackBerry Skin can be purchased from DecalGirl for $7.99

Even if mountain climbing is not your bag, this skin is bound to appeal to those looking to add a bit of texture to their standard Pearl Flip styling.

Case Mate Smart Skin
The Case-Mate Smart Skin is not what you would call a designer BlackBerry skin by any stretch of the imagination. That being said, I have included it on this list because it does indeed look sexy. With its textured molding, the Case-Mate Smart Skin provides spill and slip protection for your BlackBerry while at the same time looking unique from other casing solutions out there.

The Case Mate Smart Skin is available in three colors (red, black, blue). The icing on the cake for this case however is the laser cut fit that covers the entire BlackBerry keyboard. This just looks super stylish and is a feature that really stands out.
