Tainell kicks out Atom-powered T500 MID for China

Well, it looks like folks in search of an alternative to Viliv’s S5 MID now have another option — in China, at least, where Tainell has just rolled out its new T500 handheld. Like the S5, this one packs a 5-inch display and the usual Atom Z510 processor, along with some decent enough specs all around, including 1GB of RAM, a 32GB SSD, a built-in webcam, integrated Bluetooth, GPS, and 3G, and Windows XP for an OS. No word on a price just yet, unfortunately, let alone any indication of a release outside of China.
Sellout.woot.com has a decent deal on the Eee PC 900 today. This model sports the slightly more expensive 20GB SSD option along with the standard assortment of a 900MHz Intel Celeron, 1GB of RAM and 8.9-inch screen…
We haven’t heard a peep about this from anywhere else, but the inimitable Michael Arrington at TechCrunch says Dell’s gearing up to launch that long-rumored smartphone in China “within days.” Don’t get too excited…
Bad news for VAIO owners out there hoping to use Windows 7’s XP mode or run any other hardcore virtual machine applications — Sony disables the required hardware virtualization features of its laptops for “security reasons.
